Buyer checklist before sampling

  1. Confirm the finished tote size against the inner dimensions of the subscription carton, not just the artwork mockup.
  2. Lock the fabric weight in GSM or oz and specify weave style, finish, and whether the bag is laminated or unlaminated.
  3. Define handle material, handle length, stitch pattern, bartack length, and reinforcement points before sampling starts.
  4. State the print method, number of colors, print placement, and the minimum line thickness the artwork can tolerate.
  5. Request a pre-production sample made with the same fabric, handle, print, and packing method that will be used in bulk.
  6. Ask for MOQ by bag, print, colorway, and label version so setup costs do not hide inside the unit price.
  7. Review carton pack count, master carton dimensions, gross weight, and moisture protection for ocean or long-haul transit.
  8. Set defect limits for loose threads, broken stitches, print smudging, odor, stain marks, and size tolerance before the PO is issued.
  9. Ask for production lead time, sample lead time, and the supplier’s normal buffer for peak season, fabric delays, and port congestion.
  10. Compare quotes only on the same basis: same spec, same print, same packing, same shipping term, and same overrun tolerance.

Factory quote questions to send

  1. What exact fabric weight, weave construction, and finish are included in the quote?
  2. Is the supplier the actual maker, a trader, or a domestic converter, and what evidence shows who performs cutting and sewing?
  3. What is the MOQ for the bag, for the print, and for each colorway or label version?
  4. Which print method is quoted, how many screens or setups are included, and what is the artwork minimum line-width limit?
  5. Are the handles self-fabric, cotton webbing, or another material, and what reinforcement stitch or bartack length is included?
  6. What are the sample lead time and bulk lead time, and what starts the production clock?
  7. What carton pack count, carton size, carton cube, and gross weight are assumed in the quote?
  8. Does the quoted price include inner packing, moisture protection, hangtags, barcodes, carton marks, or outer carton marks?
  9. What is the allowed overrun or underrun percentage, and will short counts be replenished or refunded?
  10. Which inspection standard or in-house QC method is used before shipment, and can the factory share photos or a sample report?

Quality-control points to confirm

  1. Measure the finished bag against the approved spec sheet for body width, body height, gusset depth, handle drop, and seam allowance.
  2. Inspect seam density at the bottom seam, side seams, and handle attachment points for skipped stitches, seam slippage, puckering, or needle damage.
  3. Check bartack placement and confirm both handles are attached symmetrically with the same reinforcement length and stitch count.
  4. Verify print registration, ink opacity, edge sharpness, and color consistency on the coarse jute surface under strong light.
  5. Smell-test first cartons for oil, mildew, chemical odor, or mustiness that could trigger warehouse complaints.
  6. Confirm fiber shedding stays within tolerance and that loose jute fibers do not contaminate boxed products.
  7. Pull a sample from packed cartons to check whether folding marks, pressure marks, or crushing affect presentation.
  8. Review barcode, hangtag, and carton mark placement so receiving can scan and identify the goods without relabeling.
  9. Check stitch back-tacks at stress points, especially where the handle meets the body panel and where the base panel closes.
  10. Compare a random unit from the top, middle, and bottom of the carton so compression damage is not missed in receiving.
