- What is the estimated unit weight per bag, bags per carton, gross carton weight, carton dimensions, and carton CBM based on the proposed fabric and size?
Quality-control points to confirm
- Measure finished width, height, gusset depth, top opening, handle width, handle total length, and handle drop on a defined inspection sample. For many sewn cotton totes, ±1 cm on key dimensions is practical, but the agreed tolerance must be written before production.
- Test actual fabric GSM on bulk-cut panels, not only on mill paperwork. Finishing, washing, calendaring, shrinkage, and fabric moisture can change measured weight and hand feel.
- Inspect fabric face against the approved swatch for holes, broken yarns, oil stains, weaving bars, severe shade variation, contamination, mildew odor, and unacceptable slub concentration.
- Check natural cotton characteristics separately from defects. Minor slubs, neps, and natural shade variation may be acceptable if they match the approved standard; stains and structural faults are not natural character.
- Check print placement from fixed reference points. Measure distance from top hem, side seam, center line, and bottom edge where artwork alignment matters.
- Inspect print color, registration, edge sharpness, ink coverage, curing, drying, rub resistance, and readability of fine text at normal retail viewing distance.
- Verify handle attachment strength by checking insertion depth, X-stitch shape, bartack presence, stitch density, loose threads, skipped stitches, and symmetry between left and right handles.
- Check top hem alignment, side seam straightness, bottom seam security, gusset shape, boxed corner consistency, and body panel skew. Twisted panels can make a correctly placed print look off-center.
- Review seam allowance and trimming. Loose thread ends, untrimmed yarns, or raw internal edges can make a paid merchandise tote feel like a low-grade promotional item.
- Confirm labels, hangtags, care wording, organic cotton wording, barcode placement, and country-of-origin markings against the approved production file.
